Some exciting news. This coming Sunday morning (16 June) we will be releasing our new film: ‘Ted’s Story.’ I wanted you to be aware of what to expect and what we’re hoping to achieve with the film.
Promoting skills for life and volunteering
The story follows a young person’s journey through the movement, also showing how his family gets involved, including how his father becomes an adult volunteer. We hope it will raise awareness of Scouts as a way to gain skills for life and encourage more adults to volunteer too.
As soon as we share the film on our Scouts Facebook page and @UKScouting Twitter channel, you will be able to download the film from the Scout brand centre. You are welcome to use the film at recruitment events, information evenings, Scout gatherings and AGMs.
Hollywood actor, director and Scout Ambassador Warwick Davis was involved in the making of this film, and he’s recorded a teaser video which we’ll share later this week. The new film comes a year on from our award-winning film ‘Nat’s Story’.
We’ve developed a media story which we hope will be picked up at the same time. The story is based on research which reveals that, more than anything else, parents and children want to spend more time with each other.
Parents agreed that volunteering with Scouts would help give them quality time with their child and help their children to develop new skills. As you will be aware, we are battling a very full news agenda at the moment, but we’ve had some positive interest and remain hopeful.
How you can support this
Please share our film when it is released on your local Scout social media channels so we can amplify our message and reach more people.
Thanks very much for all your support.
