Consumer Badge

Whether we’re buying sports gear in a shop, a DVD on the internet or streaming a film to our smart device, how many of us really know our consumer rights if something goes wrong with our purchase?

Scouts NI is delighted to be launching the new ‘Consumer Scouts’ resource (attached) developed in partnership with The Consumer Council for Northern Ireland.  The materials have been designed to raise young people’s awareness of their consumer rights, and increase their confidence to complain if they experience faulty goods or poor service.

Scouts can earn a ‘Consumer Scout’s badge by taking part in a range of fun interactive activities over two or three evenings.  Groups may also choose to film these activities to help towards the Scouts’ Digital Citizen Award.

This initiative will run for one year, so Groups have until the end of December 2018 to earn their Consumer Scout badge.
