This training will focus on promoting an understanding of positive mental health. It will also examine coping strategies to help leaders build the emotional wellbeing of the young people within the Scouting Movement. The goal is to understand that emotions such as stress and anxiety are part of a human condition for young people as well as adults. A task of this training is to close the gap in the relationship between an individual’s level of psychological distress and their emotional wellbeing.
The impact of developing emotional well-being leads to increased personal and emotional resilience. Emotional resilience techniques will be taught and applied by the training participants.
Topics to be covered are:
. A better understanding and knowledge of mental illness and mental health issues
. Recognise signs and symptoms of stress and mental ill health
. An awareness of how to protect and promote emotional wellbeing within Scouts NI
. Flourishing Mental Health tips
. Be able to identify self-help strategies
Through facilitator-led discussions, participants will get a comprehensive understanding of mental health issues, practical guidance, and information on where to go for support.
Learning Outcomes
. Raise understanding of what is positive mental health
. Practical guidance and techniques on how to build emotional resilience
. Sensitivity to other people’s mental health and wellbeing
. Understanding the importance of relational resilience
. Where to access appropriate support
Thank you.
