Support our World Scout Jamboree participants

Date: 22nd Mar 2018 Author: Scout Websites

County Down Scouts are proud to confirm that we have 20 young people going to the 24th World Scout Jamboree in West Virginia in 2019 as part of the two Northern Ireland Units, Unit 87 and Unit 88. They are making up the 4000 young people who are attending as part of the United Kingdom Contingent.
Within the County, Dave Orr, Group Scout Leader of 12th Bangor has also been selected as a Unit Assistant with Unit 87 and Peter Wilson, District Commissioner of North Down is a member of the UK Contingent Management Team.
As a County we are looking forward to supporting all our people attending this event, and to promote the World Scout Jamboree to our next group of young people.
County Commissioner Stephen Wilton has created a County fundraising team with events planned to support, and some events already successfully completed! The next stage of the awareness raising is our new County Fundraising Badge – or patch!

This County badge has been designed with the following in mind:
– Depicts all three host nations – USA, Canada and Mexico
– Same shape and size as an American patch
– UK Contingent Bear logo
– Both NI Units supported
– Hashtag of UK Contingent
– Saffron / Orange border to represent NI
We are looking for all Groups to place orders for this badge which the County Commissioner has approved for all people to wear for a year as an occasional badge.
Please speak with your DC to confirm order numbers, badges are £2 each and will be available soon.

Put your phone down and what are you left with? Just teamwork, courage and the skills to succeed.’
